For Corrections Officer Kellie Pena:

Our duty as law officers and corrections officers is frought with situations that require sudden and intense physical exertion. Physical conditioning and exercise is no guarantee that we will not encounter problems during as a result of the stress. We regret that out brother Kellie would be the next statistic involving this real and existent situation.

We pray for his family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to support one another as the days pass.

I am proud to render CO Kellie Penna a final salute.

Some of us have given every physical effort to stop and contain prison madness, only to hear of it elsewhere and have a brother die as a result is tragic. On behalf of the Metropolitan Detention Center, we offer much respect to the Pena family.
