Rest in Peace Chief Bauer. You are now patrolling God's highways. You are a hero in the eyes of all law enforcement.

I salute Chief Bauer for his service. Of my children, I have a USAF Iraqi war veteran son now serving with Beaumont PD, a son with Houston PD, another son ready to enter the academy, a US Navy daughter who just arrived home from Iraq, and a US Army son who is making application with Texas state troopers--his commitment is now complete. I know what it is to be a parent of children who fight the war on terror and the war on crime. My children know what it is to have a mother and grandmother who fought the war on terror. It always breaks my heart to lose a law enforcement officer. So, today I would like to say "thank you for your service, Chief." To the Chief and his family, I want you to know that you will never be forgotten. Defensor Fortis!
