For Deputy Sheriff John Willis:

Many of in law enforcment have answered the domestic argument call multiple times, and have survived intact. This does not mean that we will survive the next domestic argument call. Cowards who will gun down a responding officer are prone to killing themselves afterward. It is what cowards do. This has happened before and, sadly, it will happen again.

No law officer can be sure he or she will ever reach the end of the shift. Most of us concentrate upon doing our job. We do not dwell upon incidents that most would-be cops or citizens see as hazards in our work. This does not mean we are unaware or negligent. It simply means that the law officer's job is dangerous. It always has been dangerous. It will continue to be dangerous. Our support, our protection, and our survival depends upon others who do what we do. It always has. It always will.

We pray for John's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to support one another when the needs arise.

I am proud to render a final salute to Deputy Sheriff John Willis who stands very tall among us.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennylvania State Police

Somebody killed a policeman today and a part of America died. I'm really gonna miss you Jon. I leave reflections on here for every officer that is killed but this one hits home. I truly enjoyed working with you over the years. You could always be counted on to be there if things got bad. I only wish I could have been there for you yesterday. Just know that you will never be forgotten and your memory will live on with your brothers in blue. Thank you for your service brother and may you rest in peace. Matthew 5:9
