Having friends who are officers I know the chill I get when I hear the words 'officer down'. There is NEVER a sigh of relief just because I do not recognize the name as that of one of them.

I cannot imagine the pain and loss your family, friends, and fellow officers are feeling at this time.

My prayers are with them all.

To the police, natural and spiritual families of Cpl Edwards,
I deal w/ the cop killers, etc., the lowest form of life after they are sentenced for these tragedies. It troubles me terribly when good men die while evil men live. I dont get why a rabid animal like his killer will live his life cared for by the state while his family, in particular, will remember the day of the death notification forever. It pains me deeply. Cpl Edwards' family shall be on my lips to G-d's ear as I pray. I could not grieve more for his death and your unspeakable loss.

Rest in peace, Sir. God is with your wife and children, and with your friends. My heartfelt condolences to all who knew and cared for you. You walk the streets of Heaven now with our Lord and we know He and all the angels salute you for your selfless sacrifice. While arms ache to hold you here, while eyes long to see your face, and ears long to hear your voice, we will continue to honor your sacrifice by doing what needs to be done with honor, dignity and respect for the life you gave so that others would be safe. Rest in Heaven, we will all meet again one day. Until then, we will surround your family with love and support and we will patrol the streets with our backs straight, our heads held high, and the Oath in our hearts. We give some, you gave all. Thank You.

I am so sorry to your family and your department. On July 23, 2010 a warrior's heart stopped beating. Your story will be passed along throughout my agency, however I do not think that there is anything that could have been done differently, you were a squared away officer, someone I could have learned from. Rest in Peace Corporal and know that police go to heaven, and someday we will meet again. Until that day, you will always be in my prayers.
