I'm just ripped apart at the tragic loss of Matthew. I just saw him 3 days ago, spoke to him about his wife, Shannon. He was one of the most loving & caring husbands I have come across. My deepest sympathy goes out to Shannon, his children, the Taylor P.D. & all his brothers in Blue. RIP Matthew.

Taylor Police Dept. lost one of their greatest police officers today, to a senseless act. Matt was a great husband, father, and friend. I am so saddened by his loss. Heaven has gained a great person. Rest in peace my friend...you will be missed, but never forgotten....

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Corporal Matthew Edwards. Though there are no words that I can offer to relieve the grief felt by those that knew him and loved him, I can only offer my thoughts in that Corporal Edwards will always be honored for the sacrifice that he made to assure that others were able to rest comfortably at night while he kept them safe. Rest in peace Corporal.
