His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

I never had the privilege of meeting Sgt. Orville Smith who was a Police Officer, a US Marine and a volunteer firefighter, but there is no doubt that his life was filled with glory and filled with satisfaction because not very many people achieve so much in their life time. RIP Sir, I salute you!

My badge represents that there are laws in our land, that I am sworn to uphold. Each time I put on my uniform, I know not what activities are before me, or the dangers I may face. My authority and duty I do not treat lightly, as I wear my uniform with Pride, Integrity and Honor.

Some people wonder why so many Officers converge on towns across this nation, when an Officer is Killed In The Line Of Duty. I can simply say, that they come to pay respects to someone who did the job they do, in support of other Officers, as a show of respect to family, and to show Pride, Integrity and Honor for a fallen hero whose community has lost a friend. I have attended way to many of these but if you shed a tear for another, it will help cleanse your soul. It is the memories that will get you through the years.

Though I have made mistakes, accept me, as I accept you and show me the way …..Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Smitty, for years we laughed and smiled together about the little things in life. You were one of the few who always asked me how my family was and what I was up to.I can't remember how many times you bought me lunch,or coffee when I worked a double shift. You used to make us laugh with your crazy ideas and sometimes got under our skin for certain calls you thought were not handled right, but in the end you were a police officer at heart,an awesome supervisor,a great man, and an even greater friend. For all of these things I will miss you very much. The conversation wich we had shortly before your death will stick wuth me for the rest of my life. Rest in peace my friend and I hope you will watch over all of us. ALL GAVE SOME SOME GAVE ALL.....
