My deepest sympathy to the Smith family and all of his friends. There are no words that I can offer to ease your grief because of this senseless loss. I know, as I walk in your footsteps as my youngest son was killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver. Orville, continue to watch over all of your loved ones and close friends. You are a true hero land heroes never die. I thank you not only for your long and dedicated career to law enforcement, but also to your Country. You will never be forgotten.

Your long and dedicated service to God's children in your community has been written in gold in God's police journal and is an eternal testimony to your large and serving heart. Welcome to God's Police department. Your honor, your integrity and your love for His children like your family will never be forgotten by your brothers and sisters left behind. They will keep your name alive for years to come and they will care for your family. As you meet your new brothers and sisters in the badge know they too paid the ultimate and are also heroes to their earthly departments. Rest in peace brother. In Christ.

Although I did not know Officier Smith, my husband John did as he went to high school with him in Ansonia. They both joined the Marine Corps a few months apart and met again in Vietnam. I use to hear my husband talk of Orville over the years saying what a great guy he was. Our hearts go out to his family and all the officiers of the Shelton Police Department. I know your hearts are extremely heavy and saddened at this time. You are all in my prayers along with Sergeant Orville Smith's soul. May he rest on peace.
