I never had the privilege of meeting Officer David Curtis but from what I've read, he was a man of integrity, who loved his job and someone who was trying to keep his community safe from the evils within. RIP Sir, I salute you!

My badge represents that there are laws in our land, that I am sworn to uphold. Each time I put on my uniform, I know not what activities are before me, or the dangers I may face. My authority and duty I do not treat lightly, as I wear my uniform with Pride, Integrity and Honor.

Some people wonder why so many Officers converge on towns across this nation, when an Officer is Killed In The Line Of Duty. I can simply say, that they come to pay respects to someone who did the job they do, in support of other Officers, as a show of respect to family, and to show Pride, Integrity and Honor for a fallen hero whose community has lost a friend. I have attended way to many of these but if you shed a tear for another, it will help cleanse your soul. It is the memories that will get you through the years.

Though I have made mistakes, accept me, as I accept you and show me the way …..Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Curtis,

I am still in shock and disbelief from the phone call I got delivering me the news about your death. It was something I never imagined would happen. You were a great person to work with and I am glad I had the honor to work with you. Everything everyone has said about you is so true and I agree. I don't think you ever had a bad day or a frown on your face. I remember the day you told me you applied with TPD and I was so sad knowing that I would be loosing the opportunity to work with you as my zone partner at some point in our careers, but I was happy for you because I know how badly you wanted to work the street. You truly are a hero and I know that everyone around your wife and boys will make sure to tell them daily that their daddy was a true hero and died doing what he loved. You will always be remembered and deeply missed by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting you. Rest In Peace Curtis.

To the family and friends of Officer David Curtis and his fellow officers:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was tragically killed.

To Officer Curtis' family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service David gave to his community and the citizens of Florida, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 29, 2010.

David,

Rest in peace my brother. I never really knew you other than passing you in booking when you worked at HCSO. I remember that you were always friendly and excited about your job, I don't think I ever was in there when you were having a bad day. What happened to you and Jeff makes me sick and I wish we could go back in time and change the outcome forever. I look at your family and can't help to think about your boys who are the same age as my sons. I can't imagine what they are going through. If they are anything like their dad they will make it through this and time will heal some of the hurt.

Rest in peace my friend.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Matthew 5:3-9

Rest in Peace, son of God.
