I enjoyed a 34+ year career with the Long Beach Police Department in Long Beach, California and retired on March 9, 2001. I start my day off each morning by clicking onto the Offier Down Memorial Page hoping and praying that I will not see another untimely addition of my brother and sister officers. There's sadness in my heart when I see that another officer has courageously fallen in the line of duty responding to assist another officer in peril. My heart and prayers go out to your family.

Sergeant Bob Byington
