My heartfelt prayers go out to the family and the Sherrif's
office as well. He is a hero, who was not afraid to risk his
life to keep his community safe.
My husband was also 52 and started his law enforcement
career later in life after reserving for many years. He was in a
1 car collision and died at the scene EOW 1/3/2010

I had the good fortune to work with Dean closely over the past five years. He was a good man and dedicated officer. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as well as with my brothers and and sisters at the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

No greater sacrifice can a man make than to lay down his life for another......May God Bless Deputy Ridings and his family. It is a honor and a priviledge to wear the badge of law enforcement with such brave men as Deputy Ridings. I used to live in Fredericksburg and work in Spotsy County with the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad (Station 5)and knew alot of the Deputies there. I am so very sorry to hear of Deputy Ridings passing. Many prayers tonight for his family and his Deputy family.
