I enjoyed getting to know Travis in the academy several years ago. I have memories of laughing, sweating, swearing and honor. I continue to remember his wife and children in prayer, as well as my brothers and sisters who continue his fight.

May God give peace to all affected by this tragedy.

To my friends and co-workers at The Phoenix Police Departmment, I am so sorry for your loss of Ofc. Murphy. By all accounts he was a tremendous talent, tireless vanguard in protecting the weak, innocent, and victimized, and was an individual with limitless potential. The community has lost a great servant.

To the family, my prayers are that God will see you through this senseless tragedy and carry you when all seems hopeless as you cope with this monumental event. You have many good people to rely on. Travis has passed the torch, others will pick it up and carry on.

The battle between good and evil rages in every country, in every city, in every community. The sacrifices made by first-responders in the cause of freedom sometimes comes with a cost in blood, but the battle is worthy and noble and must continue for our society to endure.

Rest in peace Ofc. Murphy; God bless all the men and women in blue, tan, and green.
