Such a tragic loss of one who was twice the hero. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, the Chicago Police Department, and the brothers and sisters in uniform across the State of Illinois and the nation. We share your grief. May you always rest in the arms of the angels, Officer Wortham. Thank you for your service to both the citizens of Chicago and our nation. Neither you nor your service will be forgotten.

Officer Wortham IV, your watch is ended. May our Heavenly Father watch over your family and friends during this tragic time. May your soul walk carefully and proudly into everlasting life. You will be in our thoughts and prayers from now on. Rest in God’s peace my friend.

This has got to stop. Our best young men and women are putting it on the line overseas, and to see him gunned down in front of his father, in the United States, by a roving band of criminals brings me to tears. No parent should bury a child. Citizens of the City of Chicago should be outraged. You have lost a true American, who can't be replaced. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wortham family and CPD.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Thank you Officer Wortham for your service to our Country. You were taken too early!

Rest in peace.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

MY heart and tears are with you and your family. To give so much to keep our country free and safe. Only the angel that your son has become perhaps knows why such terrible things happen. His bravery and his fathers standing the line against evil is what makes our country the greatest place in the world. American Hero's. Again me and my family along with all the officers I know are so sorry at your loss. God Bless.
