I never had the privilege of meeting Officer Benavides but have read of his charming and humorous personality, devotion to his family, and service to the residents of California in the numerous newspaper articles published describing him. My thoughts and prayers go out to this brave man’s family. In a time in which we see so many movies being produced about comic book hero’s it is important to remember that Officer Benavides was a real life hero who willingly risked his own personal safety and ultimately his life protecting the residents of California for 13 years. I will forever remember this hero of California and will constantly keep his family in my prayers.
