Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Ian Michael Deutch

Deputy Sheriff Deutch,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your community, but also for our Country when you served with the ARNG in Afghanistan. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Deputy Ian Deutch was a hero not only for Nye county but for the State of Nevada and the United States of America. He served with honor. We often wonder why such a great man was taken from us so soon God needed Ian. General Patton once said"It is foolish and wrong to more the men who have died yet thank god such men lived".The world is a lesser place without him.Its hard knowing that you will never hear K9-3 call on duty again you may expect him to still walk down the halls before his shift smiling making the world better. It is because of heroes like Ian that we are able to live free today.Gone but forgotten Rest in Peace Brother till we meet again in heaven. I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Deutch. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Ian, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Ian's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Ian's life was about so much more than the way he died. Ian will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Deutch, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been seven years and a half years but he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

To the family and friends of Deputy Ian Michael Deutch and his fellow deputies:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Ian tragically died.

To the Deutch family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

I also thank Ian for his service to our country as he fought on foreign soil to keep our homeland safe for all of us. As we slept peacefully, he soldiered to protect us.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Ian gave to his country, his community and the citizens of Nevada, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 26, 2010.

Ian, you will be loved and remembered forever.

Our love and condolence go out to your loving family and dear friends.

For those of you who did not have the extreme honor of knowing Deptuy Ian Deutch, you missed one hell of a man. We consider ourselves so very privileged to have had him in our lives.
The day his watch ended we lost one of the most remarkable young men we have ever met. He gave so much for his country and his community but he had so much more to give.

In 4 1/2 years we never saw him mad, upset, sad or angry, he always had that beautiful smile on his handsome face and we will see it till the day we die.
Ian loved serving his country, community and county but above all he adored his loving wife Vicki, son Jonathan 18 and daughter Savonya 6 1/2.
Ian, know that your death has opened the eyes and hearts of the people in this valley and this country. The outpouring of love to your family has been amazing and will continue for years to come. Those who knew you will carry memories of the man you were throughout their lives. You are truly our hero but you didn't have to die for us to think of you that way.

We will keep an eye on 'Your Angles' for the rest of our lives. We will also remember our evening together April 18th. 2010 and waving to you on Mon. April 26th. 2010 as you passed our house on your way to work and to your 'End Of Watch.'
We know that God has placed you on a cloud where you can watch down on your loved ones, fellow officers & fellow soldiers. Know that we will all be looking to the heavens to see that beautiful smile forever.
May God Hold You Tightly In His Arms.
All of us you left behind will do our very best to live our lives as you did so we can join you in heaven one day soon. Until then Our Darling, rest in peace..

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

It's not how much you receive and amass that measures your worth. Rather, you measure your worth by how much you give. As far as God is concerned, the one who gives is greater than the one who receives. With that said, it's not how much you have in your bank account that determines your worth; rather, it's how much you've given. Deputy Deutch, You gave your life for another. There are no words to truly thank-you.
