What a terrible, terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to this officer's family. Please know that your entire police family is here for you. I will keep his family, friends, coworkers and community in my thoughts and prayers as they deal with such a senseless loss.

Police officers run into buildings when people are running out. Their bravery and willingness to protect others is what makes them heroes. Thank you for your selfless service, sir. Rest in peace.

When I began this career I knew that someday I may experience the loss of someone I knew but never in a million years would I have imagined it to be someone so close. Thinking of how I saw you grow from a 15 year old kid with a mohawk into a father, soldier, and deputy warms my heart and makes me proud. You will be sorely missed Ian.
