As I am writing this my eyes are tearing up. Mach 24,2010 was a hard day. I loved working with Dave, and I never heard anyone say anything bad about him. That morning I was joking with him in roll call, just like I did on a normal basis. It is so unreal that he is gone. One minute I was talking with him, and the next minute he's gone.
I miss you already, and love ya brother. I know you're with God and in a better place.

My Brother, rest now, for blessed are the peacemakers. We took this oath never knowing when we will be called, nor how. There is nothing more honorable than a brother/sister officer that is willing to assist another officer. May your family see that God is with them providing them hope, healing & understanding.

Dear David:
Though we have never met, we share the same dreams and ideals, the same goals...to enhance the quality of life of those we are sworn to protect, at all costs and sacrifice. Let there be no doubt..you made the ultimate sacrfice, and at a great personal cost to you and your family.
As a result of your actions, another animal that feeds on the innocence of the people we protect, will no longer enjoy the freedom to hurt others. Our founding fathers, over 200 years ago, made a promise to all generations of Americans, that we shall live free...free from want and free from fear. And in giving your life, you exemplified what that promise is, and how sacred it has become to all of us.
Though your life was cut short, at such a tender young age, what you have accomplished in such a short time, is what heroes are made of. And yes, you are a hero. One of America's Finest, forever to remembered as a man who did what he promised when sworn in..."to serve and protect". Serve and Protect...three words that mean so little to those outside law enforcement. But to us, it's a code to live by...a very sacred code.
Though your wife must now carry on without you, your presence will be felt for years to come. Why? Because the footprints you left behind, are those of a giant of a man, footprints that won't soon be overshadowed. As you entered in to the Kingdom of Heaven, I know what St. Peter said to you: "Welcome Home, David". Thank you for all you did, and may Almighty God Bless you and your family, ease their pain and suffering, and may He hold you in the palm of His hand. Amen

Palm Beach Sheriff's Office
