Ira showed an amazing amount of bravery in the face of many physical challenges over the past 30 years. A lesser man would have given up years ago.

To Sgt. Essoe's family, friends and co-workers,
My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Sgt. Essoe sounds like a truly remarkable man. My husband Steve passed away in July of 2009. He had been in a coma for seven years after a subject driving a stolen pickup rammed Steve's patrol car in July of 2002.
Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
