Reflections for Corporal Thomas Paul Jensen

HONOR NEVER GROWS OLD, AND HONOR REJOICES THE HEART OF AGE. IT DOES SO BECAUSE HONOR IS FINALLY ABOUT DEFENDING THOSE NOBLE AND WORTHY THINGS THAT DESERVE DEFENDING, EVEN IF IT COMES AT A HIGH COST. REST IN PEACE JENSEN.

Tommy,

It is hard to believe that it has been one month already. It seems like only yesterday that you, Jeff and I were out there off-roading in the Major's Trailblazer during the blizzard, hanging out at Finn's, driving from sector to sector looking for an open Burger King, or participating in the Shift 2 parking garage relay races. You are missed beyond words. While the pain of your loss and the void left on Squad 22 are forever present, we know that you are still right there with us, watching over us, every step of the way. We will always be inspired by your courage and humbled by your Sacrifice. It was an honor to serve with you and to wear the same uniform that you wore. Rest in peace, Fallen Hero. Love you Brother......

Tommy, a little over two years ago you came in to our lives and stayed. You because a part of our family from the very very beginning and touched our lives in a very special way. You made us laugh and you also made us shake our heads a few times but you always let us know that we were special to you. The night you asked Kristelle to marry you you made her the happiest young lady in the world and I knew from that moment you weren't ever going to leave us because of the love I saw between the two of you. Unfortunately you were taken from us physically but you will always be in our hearts for as long as we live. I could not have loved you more if you had been my own son. You are a very very special man and we love you more then you could ever know. I am the lucky one because of just knowing you and most of all because you chose to be a major part of our family. We love you and miss you.

It will be 1 month tomorrow since you left this world. I still can't believe you're gone. You are the best friend someone could ask for. I keep wishing I would have spent more time with you after I moved back to town. I miss you Tommy. Please continue to watch over us and keep us and our loved ones safe. Rest easy my friend.

Tommy, My best friend, my brother , and always my hero. Throughout the years i have known you(since the 9th grade) we have built a great friendship. I will never forget anything that we have done together, i will never forget your facial expressions, your jokes, your off the wall comments that would put a smile on anyones face. You were always great to me as a friend, and i will never forget the great trips, hangouts and weekend parties we would secretly have at your parents house haha. The heart to hearts are what i will always charish most. We were almost alike in every way, and thats mainly because i was always and always will be striving to be just like you! I love you and will miss you, but you will always be on my mind and in my heart!

Tom,

It's been a little while since you left us, but not a day goes by that you don't pop into my head at least once! I'm glad that I can look back on all on all of our time working the street and laugh. We all miss you and won't forget you. There's no way we ever could.

Tommy, I write to you today with a heavy heart as we move forward to the first holiday without you. It saddens me deeply you are not here this weekend to celebrate Easter with us although it is comforting knowing where you are and that you will be experiencing the most spectacular Easter ever from the front row...We love you and miss you so very much. Happy Easter!

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Tommy and Stella were truely a match made in heaven. Seldom do you see such a perfect couple. After only 5 months of marriage Tommy you made the ultimate sacrifice. You were a perfect fit to our family and I was honored to be a part of the ceremony held Monday, March 15,2010 that was a celebration of the short life you lived with us. I knew from the first day Stella introduced you to us that you were a special person and it was a blessing to see in those months following you made Stella. I will miss you Tom Tom and will look forward to the day my tears turn to smiles as I remember the wonderful times we had along with the wonderful man that made my neice so very happy. So Tom, made you rest in peace as you watch over Stella please know that I am here helping her every step of the way to get through what will be the toughest days, weeks and months ahead. To Stella always remember....ITS NOT THE NUMBER OF BREATHS IN LIFE YOU TAKE, BUT THE MOMENTS IN LIFE THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY! I will miss you more than you know!

Love Always, Aunt Terri

Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

Tommy,
Words cannot express the loss that your family, friends, and colleagues have had with your untimely passing. Swope and Mazzei, along with Mikey and so many more never left your side or Kristelle's; You would have been extremely proud of all of them. We met a few times since I have been on the department, a far cry from when I was a young host/to-go kid at Glory Days in Bowie and you even pulled a prank or two there.
We will always remember you and make you proud. Rest easy now Brother, we have the watch from here. #2853 you are truly a hero.
