Unfortunately I did not have the pleasure of knowing Corporal Searcy but I know several officers that did. And words cannot not express the grief and sadness that his fellow officers are feeling right now. As we continue on with our daily lives we sometimes do not realize that when these men and women go off to do their jobs of protecting us and our families there is always that possibility one may not come home. For some it's a job....for others it's a calling. Let us not forget the ones who have gone on before us. May god bless his wife and family and comfort them in their time of grief. Thank you Corporal Searcy for your many years of service.

I pray that God will send a comforting healing throughout your department and continuously bless your family, friends and fellow officers. God speed to your next assignment to patrol the streets of Heaven under God's command. Protect those of us that are left behind as we continue the watch. We will all meet in line-up, one day.

I attended the Police Academy with JR in 2002 and can say without a doubt that he was an extremely great deputy that was really making a difference in society. He did not do this job to look cool or become rich. He did the job because he had a passion for law enforcement and helping people. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department has lost a great Deputy and friend but gained a hero who will be forever remembered. My thoughts and deepest prayers go out to your family in this incredibly difficult time. Rest in Peace brother.

"Greater love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends" John 15:13

I first met J.R. around 1999 when he was a cop in the U.S. Air Force and have known him ever since. He was not only a HERO to his community and family, but also a great step-father to my son Nick. His service to his Nation and to his community will always be honored and his memory forever cherished and remembered. May he rest in eternal peace in the comfort and glory of Heaven and may God bless and comfort his family through their time of need.
