Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Christopher A. Upton

My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Upton's family and friends during this terrible time.

And with all due respect to the hunter, he should spend the rest of his life in prison - just as Officer Upton's family will do without him. Hunting at night equipped with night vision.....there is NO REASON for this Officer's death.

Rest in peace.

Michelle - wife of US Marshal

For Officer Christopher Arby Upton:

Hardly any law enforcement officer faces the perils that a game law officer faces; almost everyone he meets is armed. Added is, that as the game officer patrols, he is in the midst of many around him who have varying degrees of hunting experience. This all adds-up to a compounded risk.

We regret to learn that Chris was killed by an errant or careless hunter. We are thankful that the responsible individual notified EMS and law enforcement inmmediately. The circumstances that this hunter will face will now be determined by the courts and, at least, the investigation will not have to be conducted to learn the identity of this person. This incident is as terrible as it is horrifying, even if determined an accident. At the basis is a hunter not clearly identifying his/her target, it appears.

We pray for Chris, his family, friends, co-workers and all those who care about him. May they be ready to reach out to one another at the approprite time.

I am proud to render Officer Christoper Upton a final salute.
