Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Kenneth James Collier

Thank you for your service. May God Bless you and your family. May he grant your family, friends, and co-workers the strength they need to get through the rough times ahead.

I was reading the reflections and came across this one. It seems to me that this Deputy was someone my late husband knew. Deputy Morris Taylor was with the SDSO for 5 years then moved on and was also taken home/Slain in the line of duty on FEBRUARY 14,2002 in Douglas County Oregon. I want the family and friends/ fellow Deputies to know that this really hit home and I am sending my condolences. I cannot even begin to tell you how this feels. It will be a long hard road. I am very sorry. Look up and trust in the Lord. Man will fail you. In Him,Margaret Aragon (formerly Taylor)

Ken,

I still remember when you first started at the San Diego Marshal's office. I remember working side by side with you in the inmate holding tanks in the San Diego courthouse. I always knew when you were around. Your sense of humor and you dedication to you job was something to be proud of. Although we have not worked together for some time, know that hearing about your death hit home in a BIG way. I know that you’re in a better place. Rest in Peace my brother. You may be gone, but not forgotten.

I never met you Deputy Ken, but I feel I know you...

I see your honor and courage reflected in each and every deputy I am privileged to know. I sense your commitment to professionalism, dignity, and selflessness as I watch your brethren wade into the fray each day on our behalf.

I join the vast majority of law-abiding citizens in thanking you for your service.

To your friends and family - I know this pain. Celebrate Ken's life, hold onto to each other, laugh and cry, share your stories/his stories... and vow to never forget.

Ken was a great guy that was devoted to his duty to protect others. He also had a wonderful sense of humor which he used to kid others and take kidding as well. I regret that I didn't spend more time with him while he was here.

The world is diminished by his passing. As the quote goes: "ask not for whom the bell tolls - it tolls for thee."
