To the family/friends and co-workers of Lt. Eric Shuhandler: I honestly am deeply saddened by the loss of your loved one in the line of duty. I want to let you know there are people like myself all over the country who are moved by this tragedy and care about you. Police work is incredibly dangerous and so many in law enforcement regretably make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the public and their fellow Officers from the evils of violence. In honor and memory of the dedication and courage of Lt. Shuhandler.

REST IN PEACE BROTHER. YOU ARE A TRUE HERO.

Deputy J.D.Davis
Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office

January 30, 2010

Lord,
He was yours to give,
and yours to call home,
please stand by his brothers,
so they don't feel alone,
dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly see:
that he gave his all,
so all could have peace.
Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor - they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy,
on heroes in Blue.
Amen.

Your entire law enforcement family grieves with you. May you find peace in your memories and strength in each other.

I read about this account on line and will say a prayer for you and your family in church tommorow. Your sacrifice and that of your family and loved ones will always remain in our hearts. And thank you to all of the heroic officers who risked their lives to make certian that those two were apprehended and brought to justice. Everyone involved should be proud of their efforts because we citizens, wherever we live are very pleased and grateful that our police officers everywhere do not back down in the face of danger. Hopefully the court system will work properly and they too will be accountable for what they did.

We all grieve the loss of Lieutenant Shuhandler. My condolences to his immediate family and his brother officers in the Gilbert Police Department. There is no doubt in my mind as to Lieutenant's Shuhandler's dedication in his long career in Law enforcement. He was called, served and meet his death by a cowards sneak bullet. May God watch over him and his family. You will never be forgotten.
