Dear Friends and Family,

We of the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy are deeply sorry for your loss. We know that Trooper Mattice is with the good Lord and that he accepts her into his heavenly gates. We have just started the academy and we are beginning to see the extreme sacrifice that she had given. We cannot imagine the pain and suffering that her family and friends feel when she lost her life in the line of duty. May God be with you, your family, your friends, and all your brothers and sisters all around this great country of ours who also serve. Trooper Mattice put others before herself and for this we are grateful.

Respectfully,

Session 48

I went through the NYSP academy with Trooper Mattice (Farrar back then) in 2003. In this career field we meet all kinds of people, to me she was one of the 'good ones' and this a great loss to anyone who has ever known her. She will be greatly missed by not only her friends and family but also by her brothers and sisters of law enforcement from Florida all the way to New York.

As I heard all of the sirens speeding past my home over the course of an hour, I knew it must have been something really terrible happening not too far away. When I later learned of the accident, I could only shake my head and imagine the grief this officer's loved ones must be feeling at that moment. My heart goes out to her husband, family, friends and colleagues. We pray for her eternal peace and for the eventual healing of her survivors' spirits. We thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice.

Trooper Jill Mattice will always be remebered for her smile and kinhearted demeanor no matter what the day or situation. As a mother of several teenagers she and I would joke around about my trips to the office and the needs of teenagers. She made any situation better with her poise and proffesionalism. May she rest in peace, and my prayers to her Husband and Family. Thank you to all law enforcement who put their life on the line daily for our safety.
