Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Matthew 5:9

I think James would like the fact that in his last moments on this earth he prevented a drunk driver going the wrong on the highway from hurting someone else. It was his greatest service to his fellow man. Marine. Deputy. We have the watch here now. The streets of heaven are yours to patrol.

Wow, I’m still not sure this has entirely hit home yet. You are a great man and I am a better person for knowing you. As I stand here putting my Honor Guard uniform together and assisting in the final preps to Guard Your Honor, I can’t help but to reflect over the many memories. From the first meeting in the Squad Room as we were hired together, through training and then to being assigned to Charlie South together. I learned so much from you. Thank You!
You touched many lives and I know you will continue to watch over all of us.

Here’s to you and those like us!

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Um there's alot I can say about Deputy James L Anderson Jr. But the one thing that I can say is that he never changed who he is once you meet him and got to know him that's how was every time you saw him. He had so much energy when he came to work as if he was ready to make a difference in someone life no matter what the circumstance was he was ready for it. I want to say to his wife and children that he loved them unconditionally and his gardening. I remember asking him if he has a green thumb...lol, I never got an answer, I'm sure he did because anything he became involved in it grew for the better. James, you have touched some many lives and I'm so grateful that I was one of them. You will be missed but you will not be forgotten!! Now take your rest R.I.P. James Louis Anderson Jr.

James.....What can i possibly say? You will be missed simply isn't enough. You were an amazing guy. People always say that about people after they pass but you genuinely were. You could make me laugh without even trying. You were so much fun to work with and man did i learn alot from you. I remember the very first time i ever worked with you, we got into an argument over a bicycle S4...lol, we argued over that stupid bike for an hour...but then we got over it and were normal and ate fair food on the hood of my car. Our traditional S15 we always work together is done for me...i can not work that without you, it simply will not be the same...Please know your family is in our prayers and we miss you like crazy...I was fortunate to have known you and to have had you on Delta....Rest in peace. Love you

I met Marine Staff Sergeant James Anderson while he served on recruiting duty. As a fellow Marine, I immediately appreciated his out-going personality, proud professional bearing and absolute commitment to excellence. James leaned over backwards to assist my son in getting into the Marine Corps. Over the years our paths crossed many times and every encounter left me with an uplifted Spirit and recognition that God's hand was strongly upon James' life. As he approached retirement from the Corps, he looked with enthusiasm toward a second career in Law Enforcement. I could easily see that he carried his Faith and our Corps Values with him when he made the transition to the St. Johns County Sheriffs Office.

As a Warrior, he gave the World greater Freedom. As a Marine Recruiter, he gave young men and women Purpose and Direction. As an Deputy Sheriff, he gave his Community Security and Order. As a Husband and Father, he gave his Family Love and Guidance. As a Man of Faith, he gave his All.

I have no difficulty seeing James' crisp salute to the Lord Jesus as he has been told to, "Take charge and carry out the plan of the day."

God Speed my good friend.

Deputy Anderson,
While I did not know you personally, we share a mutual brotherhood through our chosen profession. I work with one of your best friends and he always shares humorous stories about all the times you two have ridden together. You are now a guardian of Jesus as an angel in heaven. May HIS peace be with your family and many friends at this difficult time. I hope that we can honor your memory as you have honored our profession. You will be missed, brother.
