You are now the guardian angel that sits on the left shoulder, while Josh sits on the right. You two serve as my protection and guidance as I follow in your career path. You serve as complete motivation for all future troopers. RIP, we got it from here.

God bless you, Trooper Richey, for your sacrafice and dedication. And may God also bless your family and friends who love and support you. My cousin, Officer Keith Dressel, was taken from us in the line of duty in 2007, so my family has been where yours is today - and my heart aches to know another family in blue is going to walk this painful road with us. My husband is also a police officer - and our daily prayers are for him and all officers' safety in their duties. Our prayers and support continue for Trooper Richey's family and friends in their loss - and indeed, a loss for all of us.

Trooper Miller, ... now Trooper Richey. This is all so sad and breaks my heart. My husband was at the funeral today and said Trooper Richey's little boy was wearing his trooper hat. Our hearts go out to you - Just like Trooper Miller's wife wrote [p.8], let your PSP family hold and love you.
Trooper Richey's and Trooper Miller's families will forever be in our hearts :(

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
Can't always be a Saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my work was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep,
I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the Throne
Where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

All men die, yet not all men truly live.

Sincerest condolences to the family of this very well-respected man. Thanks and great admiration to all the members of the many brother agencies from all across the Commonwealth and the United States who turned out today for the service in some pretty ugly weather. Your support helped to give this Trooper the memorial he most certainly deserved. Thank you.

I truly enjoyed working with Trooper Richey. His professionalism was highly regarded. He had a unique gift of turning difficult situations into positive learning experiences for the students at Franklin High School. He will be profoundly missed. To Carrie, Connor, Catherin, and extended family, our prayers are with you. May you find peace in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The loss of this fine young peace officer reminds us once again that the call to respond to a domestic disturbance is one of the most dangerous calls we face.
