You stood tall, you stood brave. You stood valiant in the face of extreme danger. You fought hard, you gave it your all. You brought down evil. It is hard to quantify the amount of lives you positively touched in your decade + of service, but rest assured those who walk among us who had the pleasure to meet you, learn from you, or listen to words of wisdom you gave them will carry on your memory forever.

My heart aches for your family, who stood vigil and likely shed many tears over your loss. They didn't deserve this and neither did you. Thank you for your service and dedication to all of us. May you rest in peace and be cradled with love for eternity.

To the family and friends of Deputy Sheriff Kent Mundell and his fellow deputies:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Kent was tragically killed.

To Deputy Mundell's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

To the law enforcment community in Washington: Your state has suffered so many recent line of duty losses that it must be excrutiating to endure yet another blow. However, I know that the memory of your colleagues will continue to inspire you and that you will continue your and their legacy of protecting and serving, and that your badges are shining even brighter now in light of the enormous sacrifices of your friends.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of dedicated service Kent gave to his community and the citizens of Washington, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 28, 2009.

It is never easy to say Good-bye but especially when someone is taken from you so suddenly. I know this because I lost my 10 yr. old daughter to a drunk driver. My heart and soul weep for the family. I did not know the officer but it doesn't really matter because the hurt is still the same. All I can say is Thank You for being there for me and all the people of Pierce County, and yes I will be on the route that you go to your final resting place just to let you know you were loved, respected and appreciated. God Bless..

To the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Kent Mundell: I'm saddened to hear about the extreme loss you have suffered. Police work is extremely dangerous and in those violent situations, a split second can change everything. I acknowledge the extreme bravery it took to be there and respond as your loved one did.

I attended the vigil for you held in Puyallup last night. Oh how the memories came flooding back from 14 years ago when I lost my father. Hearing the kind words from the people who knew you out of uniform was heartbreaking. You were a dedicated father, husband first and honorable cop second. I will be attending your memorial service next week. I hope to someday be a support to your children, as no one knows this pain as well as a fellow survivor. May you rest in peace, and give my Dad a hug for me?
