Reflections for Patrolman Michael James Crawshaw

To the family and friends of Officer Michael Crawshaw and his fellow officers:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Michael was tragically killed.

To Officer Crawshaw's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Michael gave to his community and the citizens of Pennsylvania, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 6, 2009.

A FALLEN OFFICER – A FALLEN FRIEND

I’VE SHED MANY A TEAR THESE PAST SEVERAL DAYS,
ALL BECAUSE OF A FALLEN OFFICER AND PARTING OF THE WAYS.

WHY CAN’T WE SHOW APPRECIATION WHEN IT MATTERS THE MOST EVERY DAY,
INSTEAD OF WAITING TILL A TRAGIC ACT OF VIOLENCE TAKES SOMEONE AWAY?

MAKING A MARK WHILE HE WAS WITH US-- UPHOLDING THE LAW,
KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY--DEDICATED, PENN HILLS—OFFICER MICHAEL CRAWSHAW!

I FEEL LIKE I KNOW HIM—BOTH AS A FALLEN OFFICER—AND AS A FALLEN FRIEND!
WHY DOES IT TAKE A TRAGEDY LIKE THIS ONE TO BRING OUT SO MUCH LOVE AT THE END?

WE ALL NEED TO STICK TOGETHER EVERY MINUTE OF OUR LIFE,
THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND BAD TIMES, SICKNESS AND STRIFE.

IT WAS AN HONOR TO KNOW HIM, WE ALL FEEL THE GREAT LOSS,
ALL MEMBERS OF THE BROTHERHOOD, THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE “MOFF”.

I’M SURE HE’S WATCHING DOWN ON US FROM HEAVEN ABOVE,
AND WE ALL KNOW FOR CERTAIN HE’S SENDING US HIS LOVE.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Crawshaw and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Crawshaw, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Crawshaw is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was their duty to serve; it is ours to remember.

Thank you for your service Brother. My thoughts & prayers go out to your family.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

I cannot imagine the sense of loss felt by the loved ones left behind. Someone sent this to me today and I wanted to share it with the family and friends of those officers who have given their all. Good Bless Them!

"My First Christmas In Heaven"

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas
choir up here. I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices
bring. For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
But I am not so far away, We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones, You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ
this year.
