My heart goes out to the young family of Deputy Mehagan.
Please, believe how I know the ache you all are feeling, we
too, lost our Deputy Sarah Jones EOW 10-19-08 way too early. How sad we lose them to the deadliest of all weapons
the automobile.
Please seek comfort & support from you local COPS and
fellow LEO's. Hero's live forever.....

Adam,

I will miss all of those verbal wars we had about OU/OSU football, all of which I was right about (of course) LOL!!! You had a unique sense of humor and were always a good sport, even the time I pepper sprayed your soft taco from the mexican phone company!! You were professional and had grown and matured since becoming involved in law enforcement at the WCSO. You are now 97 in a different arena, one that will allow you to be a watchful eye over those still patrolling the streets. You will be missed for your determination, quick wit and love of the University of Oklahoma!! God's Speed Adam!!!

Washington County Sheriff's Office

"The final inspection"

The deputy stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, deputy.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The deputy squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord I guess I ain't.
Because those who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough...
And sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awful tough.

But I never took a penny
that wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
but if you don't...I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod,
as the deputy waited quietly
for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, deputy.
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets.
You've done your time in hell."
