Losing you and your fellow officers is a tragedy felt across the law enforcement community. Your whole police family is shocked by this loss and hurting for your loved ones today. I can't imagine what your family and friends are going through right now, and I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers as they endure the road ahead.

These are all heartfelt words, but they're just plain inadequate. This tragic loss is so far beyond any description.

We will continue to support and fight for the peace you dedicated your life to building. Justice and goodness will prevail in the end. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Rest in peace.

Senseless, purely senseless. It grieves me to learn of this loss, and I pray, wholeheartedly pray, for the families who now have to pick up the pieces with their loved one stolen from them. May God bless them and comfort them beyond measure.

From a fellow, female officer, I ache for the children who have lost their mother or their father...I truly ache..

Hopefully the community gathers around those families and protects them, and gives those officers the honor they deserve..

Time and time again we see good people pay the ultimate price for doing what is right in our society. This year has not been a good one for Law Enforcement. First Oakland PD lost 4, now Lakewood, WA. I truly believe that there is good and evil in our society. These Officers knew the kind of work they were getting into and paid with their lives. If this dirtbag would kill 4 uniformed Police Officers, what would he have done to a regular citizen? To say that you four died as heros is not enough. That term some how does not have that kind of deep meaning that I am looking for. You paid the ultimate price with your lives. Your family, friends and fellow Officers will now have to live their lives without you. We must always remember that those names that are on this site died for a purpose. To protect the inocent, to be a productive member of our society and to ensure that future generations have it better than we do now. I only wish that you did not have to die this way...we all have a right to live our lives to the fullest. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, co-workers and the citizens that you protected. Thank you for your service and you will not be forgotten!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service not only to the people of Lakewood but to the entire United States. You and your fellow officers will be missed.

I am in such shock and disbelief from what occurred that I am at a loss for words. When I heard all the sirens and witnessed several dozen police cars from multiple departments racing down my street I knew it was bad..but I never imagined that it was this bad! I visit odmp.org frequently and the idea that I am writing a reflection for 4 officers who were killed less then a minute from where I live is just beyond belief! My prayers go out to the families, friends and law enforcement personnel who have been affected by this tragedy. I personally will never forget this, and every time I see a Lakewood police car I will always be reminded.

Having felt the pain of losing a friend and fellow officer only a few months ago, I sympathize and empathize for those of you left behind that were close to these brave officers. I pray the families and fellow officers will know that their loved ones are not and will not be forgotten and that all may find peace in this time of pain. One day all of our tears will be wiped away. In the meantime, our lives and communities are safer because of special people like Officer Griswold. Your watch is over now, sister. Rest in peace.
