Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Tina Gail DeLong-Griswold

I must have tried 10 different times to leave a reflection but could not see through my teary, blurred eyes..

What keeps flashing in my mind is this...

Tina Griswold, Police Officer, Protector of the Innocent,Mother of 2 young children, Wife...

Dear God in heaven how could you not have raised your finger and struck that evil man down.

The whole country is weeping for Tina and her fallen Officers.

Dear God please ease the pain of Tina's young children, her family and the entire Lakewood Police Department.

May God be cradling Tina's soul and her her partners and there is no more pain or suffering for them.

Officer Griswold,

I have been in tears since 7pm when I heard your name announced as one of the fallen. You were one of the best officers I ever had the honor of working with and learning from. With your dedication to law enforcement and street survival skills, what I have learned from you, I can never put a price tag on. I know as you look down on all of us in tears over yesterday's loss, you're probably shaking your head and think we're all being silly. Know we will always love and miss you.

Enjoy you're eternity in Heaven, you've served your time in Hell.

Rest in Peace now Tina.

Don't worry about us down here, we'll take the next call.

the wish of every cop whos ever walked a beat...to stop seein the bad...to only witness the good in mankind...has finally been given to these four members of law enforcement...as they now patrol the streets of heaven...where only respect and kindness fall on them now...where the words "thank you" are common-place rather than words so rarely heard...
to these four fallen members of the Lakewood PD i say to u that youve spent your time serving the citizens...well its now time to kick back in a place where pain...deciet...disrespect...and hate can no longer touch you...may you rest in peace and watch over your family...friends...and coworkers from above
my deepest sympathies go out to the everyone who is now grieving the loss of these people
you will never be forgotten

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

May the lord watch over your family and continue to bless them in their time of loss. You are a true hero....god speed. Rest in peace.

God be with these four officers and their families. It is always a tragedy when brave officers are killed protecting all of us. May God be with the rest of the Lakewood Police Department as you struggle with this senseless act. May we never forget them or the lives they lived. I can only imagine what you are going through and you all are in my and my families prayers.

For Lakewood PD, a quote from the "Bixby Letter" written by President Abraham Lincoln on Nov. 21, 1864.

"..... I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

A. Lincoln"

I didn't know her as well as most of the other people i went to school with when she was working at lakes, but the few times I did talk to her she was a very sweet lady. She will truly be missed. RIP Tina. LWPD's Finest.
