Senseless, purely senseless. It grieves me to learn of this loss, and I pray, wholeheartedly pray, for the families who now have to pick up the pieces with their loved one stolen from them. May God bless them and comfort them beyond measure.

From a fellow, female officer, I ache for the children who have lost their mother or their father...I truly ache..

Hopefully the community gathers around those families and protects them, and gives those officers the honor they deserve..

Time and time again we see good people pay the ultimate price for doing what is right in our society. This year has not been a good one for Law Enforcement. First Oakland PD lost 4, now Lakewood, WA. I truly believe that there is good and evil in our society. These Officers knew the kind of work they were getting into and paid with their lives. If this dirtbag would kill 4 uniformed Police Officers, what would he have done to a regular citizen? To say that you four died as heros is not enough. That term some how does not have that kind of deep meaning that I am looking for. You paid the ultimate price with your lives. Your family, friends and fellow Officers will now have to live their lives without you. We must always remember that those names that are on this site died for a purpose. To protect the inocent, to be a productive member of our society and to ensure that future generations have it better than we do now. I only wish that you did not have to die this way...we all have a right to live our lives to the fullest. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, co-workers and the citizens that you protected. Thank you for your service and you will not be forgotten!

This is such a tragedy beyond words. Your entire police family is feeling this today, even across the country. My heart goes out to your family and friends, and I will keep them in my prayers as they endure the coming days and weeks and lifetime of loss.

As the National Law Enforcement Memorial wall says, in valor there is hope. Your selfless service made a real difference in the world, and despite this horrific loss, we will continue to hope for the better future to which you dedicated your life.

Rest in peace.
