To Sgt. Timothy Olsovsky, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:

I was sorry to learn of Tim's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Olsovsky family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.

There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Tim's memory will be forever honored and revered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Timothy gave to his community and the citizens of Texas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 7, 2009.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Tim and I worked together for several years. We both started at the VCSO at about the same time. We went to a lot of calls together, and had a lot of conversations. He was always a patient, professional peace officer. He was a good friend to me. I am going to miss him, and I wish I had kept in touch with him more. God bless you Tim and rest in peace.

I remember when Sgt. Olsovsky came to my academy class. He was energetic and loud and not politically correct in the least. My ears perked up when he spoke because he had a certain way with words that a combat veteran like me could relate to. A cadet asked Sgt. Olsovsky if he carried a weapon off duty, and his response still makes me chuckle. He said, " Yep, I carry a Glock. Sometimes I carry two Glocks...I prefer to carry three Glocks." When the student asked why on earth anyone would carry three pistols, the good ol Sarge replied, "Because I want the SOB that shoots at me to know he just made a mistake!"

I knew at that moment I liked Tim Olsovsky. Since then, Sgt. Olsovsky was there to back me up on some pretty hairy calls and always had something funny or encouraging to say.

You will be missed, Sarge.

Sgt. Olsovsky, you were truly one of the best men that I have ever had the privilege to meet. Although I only knew you for a short while, I will never forget your smile, your friendly nature or willingness to help your brethren. You were a mentor and an example for all of your brothers and sisters who pin on that badge every day. I consider myself to be a better person because of you, as you displayed, day in and day out, both professionally and in your private life, all of the best qualities of mankind. You touched more lives that you will ever know, and the world is a better place because of you. I wish you Godspeed in your journey to your place beside the good Lord, as you have surely earned it. Rest in Peace, Sergeant Olsovsky, your work here is done and God has called you home. Even though you’re gone in body, your spirit lives on in your wife and daughter, as well as all of your family at the Victoria County S.O.
