You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Patrolman Jerry Jones. I know all too well how you must be feeling. It seems like yesterday when I was in the same position. On August 29, 2006, we (Beckley Police Department) lost Corporal Chuck Smith in the line of fire. Know that my heart goes out to you all in your time of sorrow.

You will never be forgotten by your Police Brothers and Sisters. Thank you for your service to your country and to your community. Rest in peace Brother.

I AM A WARRIOR — by Jon F. Hooper
I stand with God. I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary.
I fight for those who can’t. I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the downtrodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, for I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing, for it was my honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy:
For now, I stand with God!

Words cannot express the sorrow that your demise has caused. 'Thank you' will never be enough for the ultimate sacrafice that you have paid, but it's the only thing that I can say. Thank you for your service, Brother. You led a career of commitment, loyalty and bravery. Your dedication, willingness to serve and Supreme Sacrifice for your Country and its citizens will NEVER be forgotten.

Mrs. Jones and Family- I wish there was something I could say to ease the pain but I know "sorry for your loss" just doesnt work. Just know that the entire Law Enforcement community shares your grief, as we have all lost a brother. I hope knowing that Patrolman Jones left us as a Hero will dry a few tears, or perhaps shed a few tears of happiness and bring some smiles to sad faces. Although rough roads are ahead, you are not in this alone.

Rest easy, Hero... Watch over us and keep us safe, See you on the other side.
