Dispatchers Prayer

I hear your voice on my radio
a smile and a wave....as you pass by my door
each time you respond, I pray for your safety
each time you return, I sigh relief once more
I may be the one, giving out your calls
but you are my family, when you fall....
I fall....
you come first in our safety,
we do the best that we can
so Brother, help us keep watch
keep them safe, in God's hands....
We love you Chris! your light shines on.....

Today I attended the service for Deputy Ray. It was a great honor to hear the words your friends and family spoke about you and how a kind and honorable young man you were. The impression you made on me through them was unexplainable. No matter the time of service, you Deputy Ray are a hero. To the men and women of the Southampton SO, my deepest and sincerest condolences. To the FTO, you are in my thoughts and prayers. It is not how a person lives it is how they are remembered as they lived. May you rest in peace, Hero.

I had the privilege of meeting Chris just before he left us. He had come to my aid as myself and other officers were dealing with a large unruly crowd in one of our busier neighborhoods. He was attentive and his demeanor professional. It was an honor to serve with him even just this once.

Chris,
You will be missed. You are truly a hero and will never be forgotten. You are an example that proves "In Valor there is Hope" Without men like you and your willingness to provide a selfless service; there would be no hope and I thank you. You have motivated and inspired men and women like myself to become better police officers and to always remember why we do this job.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
