I remember seeing Marvin in school growing up and his brother and I were in the same grade. I also know their mother who worked at the school we attended together. His children went to school with my children, and his wife was my sister's classmate. Marvin will be missed by all who were blessed enough to get to know him. My prayers are with his family.

For Deputies Marvin Williams and Robbie Whitebird:

Our duty as law officers bring us many times to a situation when we serve arrest warrants. Most of the time, though tense, all goes as planned. Then suddenly things change. We can never anticipate the mood or actions of those we arrest. While most will cooperate, some will resist and the most cowardly will chose to shoot down officers by surprise.

While many jobs pose high risks, none are greater than that of the law officer. Our job is to keep the peace and to permit others to chose how to respond. We are many times the recipient of sudden and reckless action by those we confront. Sometimes we can overcome resistence and other times we die. Such is our lot.

No law officer asks for or solicits credit from anyone. We only ask for cooperation. For Marvin and for Robbie all they asked was another day on the face of this earth. Doing their job. Making us safe.

The sacrifice that both of these officers have made, although appreciated by every law-abiding citizen, is too high a price to pay for anything except our admiration and our respect. They are heros as much as any hero who ever lived and died.

As a retired state trooper and Lake County FL deputy sheriff, I render DS Marvin Williams and DS Robbie Whitebird a final salute.

Pennylvania State Police

Citizens of Seminole why is that there is no memorial for fallen police officers, deputies and troopers. Did you know that at least sixteen law enforcement officials kill in the line of duty that occurred in or that were sons of Seminole County, granted most of them were killed in the early part of the nineteen hundreds or earlier, but there sacrifice is not diminished by time. We will burier Marvin Williams today, let us raise up and in a single voice demand a memorial for all the Seminole County Law Enforcement Officer who gave their lives for us, so that we could know what it is to feel safe in our homes at night. It begun with Billy Cully Seminole Nation Lighthoseman and let it ends with Chase Whitebird and Marvin Williams of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. This is the very least we can do for our fallen heroes. Let us remember that in this Great State we live in there has been 441 Law Enforcement Officers Killed In the Line of Duty, let us honor them with a Memorial. Lest We Forget.

Here are the towns and Officers from Seminole County that have lost Officers In the Line of Duty:

Cromwell 1 all Gunfire
Pumpkin Center 1 all Gunfire
Wolf Township 1 all Gunfire
Seminole County SO 6 one accidental Gunfire
Seminole PD 3 one Vehicular Assault
Wewoka PD 2 all Gunfire
Seminole Nation 1 Assault
Oklahoma Highway Patrol 1 Gunfire
