Reflections for Sergeant David Joseph Kinterknecht

Hi babe...it is so hard to believe that it has been 3 years today. I have missed you so much since you were called home. Thank you for always being with me when I needed you, especially this accident with PJ and him being in the hospital so long. I know when he fell from the cliff at yours and my waterfall that you were with us as we worked to save his life. You were the best stepfather, father, grandfather, husband and friend ever and still are an inspiration to all of us. I love you my sweet husband.

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones today. Continue to watch over them and wrap your wings around all of them and protect them and help them with their grief. You will never be forgotten as true heroes never die.

Hi Babe, that one was for you. I hope you are proud of the way it turned out and the way I handled it. Honoring you was my goal and I believe that I did what I had to do in order to achieve that goal. I could feel you with me yesterday and when I closed my eyes - I could see yours and feel your arms around me. I love you my sweet husband and I believe now you can truly rest in peace. Good night my love.

I love you babe and miss you so much. We all miss you! Fabian could not sleep the other night so Nikki put his Papa Dave tshirt on him and talked about you and that helped him sleep. Can you believe little Conrad David is a year old already! I wish you would have gotten to hold him but we will make sure your grandbabies all remember you. I love you Babe.

Happy New Years babe. I miss you so much and wish you were here with me. I am leaving tomorrow to go to Vegas with my mom and my brother Glen will meet us there. How am I going to do this without you? Vegas was "our" place. I remember all the fun times we had there and I want to smile about them but I just cry. I know you will be with me as I know you always are. I love you babe always and forever. Sweet dreams babydoll.

Hi babe, today your mom and I went to the cemetery and decorated for Christmas. It is just not right. We were also the grand marshalls at the Parade of Lights and it was so honoring to ride in honor of you. I will always honor you and I will never let people forget you and the sacrifice that you made. I miss you babe and it seems like things are just getting harder but I am trying to be strong for you. I love you babe always and forever. Good night babe.

Happy 10th Anniversary Babe. I wish you were here so bad. Ten years ago you made me the happiest woman ever by making me your wife and I was so blessed to have had you in my life. You made our life so wonderful and I know how much you loved me...thank you for showing me what true love really is and thank you for a wonderful life. I remember on on our honeymoon we were sitting in Vegas and you were on the slot machine and I asked you if you were winning and you looked up at me and told me you already won by having me. I will never forget our life and all the love we shared. I am the one who won - you blessed my life in so many ways. I love you David always and forever.

Hi Babe, I was just remembering the day before you died how you took the afternoon off from work and we kept our little angel Dixie (she sure loved her grandpa so much). We took her over to the fairgrounds to look at the animals then to see the girls. That night when she cried you held her and just rocked her till she fell to sleep. The next morning she could not wait to go out to the back yard with you..I can still hear her as she was trying to crawl out the back door yelling "Grandpa I am coming". Fabian still remembers you and we will make sure that your new grandson Conrad David will know all about you. Jesse,Nikki, Jason, PJ, Andrea and Amanda miss you so much and will cherish you always, just like I will. I love you babe. Love always and forever, your wife, Kathy

It's been over a year since I was helping close up Cheyenne Frontier Days. That Sunday, someone came up to me and asked if I had heard anything about an officer shot in the line of duty. I had not, but curious to find out, I asked a stranger to use her phone's internet. 9news had a short story about a Montrose officer was dead and two more were in the hospital. I grew up on the Western Slope (Rangely), so it was critical I got there. My brass was supportive and authorized my travel orders. That was a long, hot service in that gym, and I could hardly move when it was time to stand up. Kathy, I think about you, your husband and your daughters every day. I'm proud to do the job I do every day. Please pray for the safety of our heros.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace.
