Reflections for Detective Marc Anthony DiNardo

Det. DiNardo:

REST IN PEACE BROTHER! Thank you for your Service. You will not be forgotten!

Officer D. Abbott
Peterborough Police Dept. (NH)

July 25, 2009

We didn't know Detective Marc DiNardo. As I write this with much sadness and a heavy heart we'd like you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, your wife, children, family, friends and your Brothers in Blue. We truly appreciate and thank you for everything the men and women in blue do for our country. May your fondest memories bring you peace in your loss.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the end of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one' touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

May god bless you and your family Det. DiNardo.
RIP Brother

Badges of the Blue

Badges of the blue
Weep so endlessly,
For their brothers in blue
Who have died so needlessly.
So many sons of mothers,
And fathers of sons,
Gone before their lives
Had even begun.
Through endless summer days,
And numbered winter years,
Nothing will halt
The forgotten badges’ tears.

Thank you so much for being one of Jersey City's Finest. You are a true hero! My prayers are with your family and friends. May you rest in peace Det. DiNardo.
