Being a police officer is not just a corageous job to do nor is a job we take upon to make end's met but it's a calling, it's a job we do to make a difference, Officers every day risk their lives in the most unselfish way to protect and to serve people in our cities, counties, states and our country. make no mistake Police Officers will give their lives to protect a perfect stranger and will do it with pride because that's what we do. Officer Gonzalez gave his life on the line of duty which does not only make him a heroe but makes him an angel, to all of our brothers of the badge please be safe, to all families of fallen officers my PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES, and to all of the general public please take a moment and smile, say hello, shake hands with a police officer when you see one, that officer might be the one who gives his or her life for you or one of your loved one. May god bless us all ..................

For Police Officer Giovanni Gonzalez:

The risks taken while on a United States highway are probably the greatest we take anywhere. It is a battleground virtually littered with death and mayhem.

Those who work as soldiers-of-the-law take even an added risk since our duty brings us to the front of the lines.
When a law officer dies because of traffic related injuries he or she is none-the-less a hero, for their obligation is to others for whom they risk their safety.

I shall pray for the family, friends and co-workers of Giovanni that their grief be soon replaced by the gladness he brought into their lives. He died doing his duty as a Miami-Dade law officer. In doing this, has brought honor to his department and himself.

As a retired trooper and Lake County (FL) deputy sheriff, I proudly render Police Officer Giovanni Gonzalez a final salute.

The funeral line was long, There's an awful lot of cars, Folks came out of the restaurants, They came out of the bars.
The workers at the construction sites All let their hammers drop. Someone asked. "What is this all for?" And they said, "Aw, just a cop."
Some chuckled at the passing cars. Some shed a silent tear Some people said, "It's stupid," "all these dumb policemen here."
"How come they are not out fighting crime?" "Or in a doughnut shop?" Sure is a lot of trouble, For someone who's just a cop."
They blocked the intersections, They blocked the interstate. People yelled and cursed, "Damn, it's gonna make me late!"
"This is really ridiculous!" "They're makin' us all stop!" "It seems they are sure wastin' time, On someone who's just a cop."
Into the cemetery now, The slow procession comes, The woeful Taps are slowly played. There's loud salutes from guns.
The graveyard workers shake their heads "This service is a flop." "There's lots of good words wasted, On someone who's just a cop"
Yeah, just a cop to most folks. Did his duty every day. Trying to protect us, Till they took his life away.
And when he got to heaven, St. Peter put him at the top. An angel asked him, "Who was that?" And he said, "Aw, just a cop."
May GOD be with everyone!!!

Most can not understand why we do this job, but I assure you that the reasons are never selfish. To have lived your life with courage, honor and in service of others, is a life well lived. To the family left behind, please find solace knowing your loved one has made a difference in this world and that you will be together again in paradise. To Officer Giovanni Gonzalez, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:

I was sorry to learn of Giovanni's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Gonzalez family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.

There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Giovanni's memory will be forever honored and revered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Giovanni gave to his community and the citizens of Florida and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 16, 2009.
