Josh,

Millions of things went through my mind on my first day at Swiftwater in August of 2007. My nerves were unending as I was about to begin the career that was a dream come true. As my field training officer, you molded me into something great – a steadfast soldier of the law. From what others continuously said on that first day through my thirtieth shift with you, I was the lucky one – for being assigned to be coached by Swiftwater’s best. And because I became accustomed to learning from the best, you were always the first one I sought advice from. Through prayer, you will continue to be that first one.

I have tried to emulate every thing you do on this job from my first day on the road through today. I promise that I will continue to do that for the remainder of my career.

I continue to take comfort in knowing you were there for me on countless incidents as my backup, my fellow trooper, my brother and my friend. I enjoyed each and every meal shared, car pool, and day at the range. The new comfort I take now is knowing that you will be near, regardless of my station assignment or where the path of life takes me.

I promise you that we will take care of Ange and the girls. I promise you that each of us will carry on the fight that you fought so selflessly and courageously. You and Johnny O will always be the older brothers I never had.

Godspeed Josh. We love you and miss you.

My heart goes out to all this officer's family, friends, and officers in BLUE (GRAY). Such tragedy for such a young officer.

We will never understand why it had to be them and only time will heal our pain. If there is anything we can do, please contact [email protected] (Fallen Officers Remembered). We are there to support all who have lost an officer, just as my sister and I have.

To all other officers, keep doing what you are doing. You are heroes everyday just by coming to work.

Trooper Miller helped to save a boy. He will always be remembered for his heroic and courageous act.

I send my condolences to all and my prayers for strength are with all of you.

I knew Josh well and enjoyed hearing his stories about his days in the United States Marine Corp. He also enjoyed my experiences with the Israeli Army. He was a man who took his job very seriously and was very brave but cautious. He cared about others. I enjoyed every moment that I ever spent with him. He had the wisdom of a man twice his age. May God comfort your soul forever. I will miss you and never forget you my friend.
