Trooper Miller was a great husband, father, and friend. All that knew him would tell you that. We just have to remember the better times with him and pray for him and his family.

You know I feel like this is a dream, like I am going to wake up and this is all going to go away. I am so sorry Angie this should not have happened to him. He worked so hard to make his life better and he gave his younger brothers somebody to look up to and they needed that. He was truly somebody special and his father would have been very proud of him.

To his wife, his children, his family, friends and 'extended family'.

I've worked in a District Court since February 1974. I've seen police officers come and go. I've seen PA State Troopers come and go. While they all have a job to do, and do it quite well I might add, some leave a lasting impression for whatever reason.

That, in fact, Tpr. Joshua Miller will.

With a sad heart and through tears I sat and watched as he was bid a hero's farewell.

The Call of Honor:

I am a Pennsylvania State Trooper, a soldier of the law.
To me is entrusted the honor of the force.
I must serve honestly, faithfully, and if need be, lay down my life as others have done before me, rather than swerve from the path of duty.
It is my duty to obey the law and to enforce it without any consideration of class, color, creed or condition.
It is also my duty to be of service to anyone who may be in danger or distress, and at all times so conduct myself that the honor of the force may be upheld.

On June 7, 2009 MANY of those 'soldiers' served and did not swerve. They were being of service to at least one in danger and distress, as well as the possibility of others being in danger.

One of those soldiers, Tpr. Joshua Miller, 'laid down his life as others have done before him'. He did not 'swerve from the path of duty'.

A child was in harms way, and because of the heroic acts of those involved, acts that there were no time to calculate, no time to reason through, no time for second thoughts, harm did not befall the child.

On that very same day, those dreaded words would once again be echoed. Another 'end of watch'. That of Trooper Joseph Miller.

Rest easy Joshua .. I'm sure the gates of heaven were opened wide and Saint Michael will be honored to have you guarding the throne.

Watch over those you loved, and those who loved you.

Thank-you...
