MRS. MILLER & FAMILY:
MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU. GOING THRU THE LOST OF MY S-I-L OFFICER DAVID TOME, WHO WAS HIT & KILLED BY A CAR, WHILE RECONSTRUCTING A FATAL ACCIDENT, THAT HAPPENED A FEW DAYS BEFORE. TO HERE THAT NEWS ABOUT MY S-I-L, WHO WAS LIKE MY SON, WAS HEART WRENCHING. THEN I WAS THE ONE WHO HAD TO TELL MY DAUGHTER & HIS MOTHER, SINCE I WAS THE FIRST MEMBER OF THE FAMILY THE POLICE DEPT. COULD GET A HOLD OF. THEY WERE TAKEN AWAY FROM US WAY TO SOON. THE JOB THEY PICKED WAS A JOB WE ALL CAN BE PROUD OF. TROOPER MILLER'S LAST TASK, WILL BE REMEMBERED & NOT FORGOTTEN IN THE HEARTS OF MANY. MAY HE REST IN PEACE WITH MY S-I-L, FOR THEIR WATCH IS OVER.

To Trooper Joshua Miller, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:

I was sorry to learn of Josh's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Miller family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.

There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Josh's memory will be forever honored and revered.

My beloved son Larry Lasater was murdered in 2005, and he was your brother in green as a fellow Marine as well as your leo brother.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Josh gave to his community and the citizens of Pennsylvania and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 7, 2009.

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived"
General George S. Patton Jr.
It is an honor to have had you as part of the "first and finest" SP agency in the nation. You exemplified the Honor, Duty, and Courage required to be a "Soldier of the Law". I truly thank God for giving us the opportunity; albeit too short, to have had you on this earth.

My heart goes out to the law enforcement family in Pa. I have several dear friends that are troopers there and it hurts me to see your department and community endure this, but endure you will. I lost my Aunt Sherry Goodman (Deputy Sheriff) to a senseless act by a coward in 1997. We have to press on. To Trooper Millers family stay strong. God will get you through these horrible times.

I never had the honor of meeting Tpr Miller, but as a current police officer and former Marine myself I feel I knew him well. To have earned membership in these two special fraternities, public law enforcement (PSP chapter) and the US Marine Corps speaks highly of his character. As a recruit at boot camp we were told by one of our DI's that "there will be wars and in war Marines will die, but as a Marine you will live forever in the name of the Corps". Tpr Miller will also live forever. To his family, friends, and fellow troopers - Every time you hear the Marine Corps hymn or see a police car glide past on patrol....Josh will be there.
God speed God bless & Semper Fi
