David,

So many of your visions came true from those long nights we used to talk. The dreams we shared for our own lives. I'm so ever grateful that I knew you. A million miles away from then. I still miss your smile, your out look on life, your laugh! When you can pick a voice on the radio from a thousand others... you were something special. Love and miss you always.

I knew Dave in high school. We worked at a nursing home in the dietary dept. He showed his amazing gift of passion and caring even then. He and his friend Eric (who also became a cop) used to play cops in the kitchen after everyone was gone. He was a riot to watch. Hiding behind the counter, sneaking around corners...I was quite surprised to hear of his accident all those years ago, and terribly saddened to hear of his passing just today. My condolences to his family. I wish I had stayed in touch with him over the years. Goodbye David.

Dave,
Even though I didnt know you very well in your short time with MPD, I knew you would have become a great cop--just because of how you did your job here. I have seen you a few times over the years and you always remembered me. I was honored to be at your funeral and am sorry you were in pain for 12 years because of a drunk driver.
You went onto law school and I hear you excelled at that too...didn't surprise me.
I will be there for you in DC next year when they put your name on the wall. Rest in peace now, Dave.

I first met Dave in a legal ethics class in law school and immediately loved him! I was taking the class with my best friend and Dave didn't know anyone in the class; however, Dave immediately became part of our little group. He had so much energy and charisma and always made me laugh. We quickly became friends outside of the classroom too. My favorite story of Dave is when we went bowling with a large group of my girlfriends (one of whom I was trying to set him up with) and none of them knew he used to be a police officer. As we are bowling, he simply pulls out his gun and scares everyone we were with! It was a hoot and he thought it was hilarous to see the shock value!

I haven't had contact with Dave in about 5 years, but still feel an immense amount of sadness at his passing. I know he struggled with immense pain and he now he is pain free and able to run like he always should have been. Dave is a hero - both for his police work and for the love and spirit he shared with all. I'll see you in heaven Dave.
