Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes love or respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. To Ned's family, I share your anquish in losing a beloved family member. I can see from the many loving reflections that Ned was an amazing man who is loved and missed by so many. I am holding you in my heart's embrace today.

Rest In Peace, Ned. None of our 9/11 heroes will be forgotten for the supreme sacrifice they and their families made.

To the family and loved ones of Sergeant Ned Thompson and his fellow officers with the New York City Police Department and most especially to Ned:

Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the anniversary month of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation seven years ago, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.

May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect and gratitude for the distinquished service Ned gave to his community and country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 11, 2001; March 9, 2008 and the intervening years as he struggled with his illness.

On this day you are remembered, for it were not for this day 7 days ago, you most likely would still be with the NYPD.

You are a hero just by the profession you chose and the sacrifice you chose to make.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Sergeant Thompson and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Sergeant Thompson, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Sergeant Thompson is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know.

No one should EVER forget what SGT Thompson did or sacrificed for our country and its citizens. He did what hundreds of other emergency workers did and that was run into a living hell of destruction that day. He fought to save lives and to protect people from the EVIL that caused it. May the Lord grant strength to the family left behind. SGT Thompson the city of New York and a greatful nation will be FOREVER in your debt.
