Reflections for Detective William J. Holfester

Not a day goes by that I don't think about you pop. I wear the badge now, and I hope I am making you proud. There have been so many times I wish I could have gotten your advise for a case or just shoot the breeze over a beer. I promise to honor your legacy. Rest easy dad, I'll take over the watch.

Bill joined Shirley Community Ambulance as a Student Member in 1983. I was Chief at the time and as Bill grew up we became close Friends. I watched Bill grow up. Become NYC Paramedic and than an NYPD Officer. Bill was goofy and Loveable. He served the public unceasingly and was a life long friend. We had fine times together. God Bless you Brother.

Bill was the best. I started him in EMS around 1983. He grew up started as an EMT than a Medic. Went onto the NYPD. I am a bit selfish we were together often. I miss him a lot. He was my friend and a Hero. He truly for those that knew him did not have a bad bone in his body.

I didnt know Billly, I met him once a long time ago. I think about him Michelle and Marissa often though. I am the sister of his sister's husband(if that makes sense). Tears are constant for me of the sacrifice Billy and many NYPD and Fire Rescue that came to our aid that day. Billy, his mother Marion, and sisters and are always in my thoughts and prayers.
