Reflections for Police Officer Eric Guy Kelly

Rest in Peace brother, watch over all of us in blue

Patrol Officer
Windsor Locks CT Police Department

April 14, 2009

I am heartbroken to read that three officers have laid down thier lives in the pursuit of keeping the peace in Pittsburgh. As a law enforcement officer in London and routinely un-armed we face this kind of call daily. There but for the grace of god go we. Our prayers and brotherly love to the families and frinds of our fallen brothers.

A PART OF AMERICA DIED
author unknown

Somebody killed a policeman today
and a part of america died..........

A piece of our country he swore to protect
will be buried at his side.

The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
to his name they will add a gold star.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,

While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.

Yes sombody killed a policeman today......
Maybe in your town or mine,

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookies side:

He answered the call....of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.....

Rest in peace Brother

St. Michael's Prayer for Police Officers

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people.

Amen.
May you rest in peace knowing that others will continue your watch.
Love and appreciation to your loving families.

Wife of Cpl Latshaw: PSP

My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and fellow co-workers during this time of grief. You gave your life so that others may live in a safe world, you gave the ultimate sacrifice.

May your family members, friends and co-workers find comfort during this time of sorrow and sadness you are truly a hero in the eyes of many.

May your Memory Be Eternal...I will continue to hold you and all those who know you in my thoughts and prayers...time passes on, but time doesn't always heal all wounds...I know your family, friends and co-workers will always remember the laughter and wonderful times they shared with you!
