A PART OF AMERICA DIED
author unknown

Somebody killed a policeman today
and a part of america died..........

A piece of our country he swore to protect
will be buried at his side.

The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
to his name they will add a gold star.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,

While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.

Yes sombody killed a policeman today......
Maybe in your town or mine,

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookies side:

He answered the call....of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.....

St. Michael's Prayer for Police Officers

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people.

Amen.
May you rest in peace knowing that others will continue your watch.
Love and appreciation to your loving families.

Wife of Cpl Latshaw: PSP

Eric, Stephen, and Paul -
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police will never be the same. The loss of three fine officers in one day is without a doubt the hardest thing our department, and our city, has ever had to cope with. I feel so lucky and so proud to be able to say that I served with each of you guys. You are truly heroes. I wish each of you could see the outpouring of support we have received from the community... it has been amazing. You have made a difference in more ways than you could ever imagine. I'm sorry you had to leave us so soon, but we will always be grateful for your service and will never forget the sacrifices that you made to keep this city safe. You will always be remembered.

My Dearest Family and Friends

Somethings I'd like to say but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from Heaven where I dwell with Our Lord above. where there's no more tears or sadness just eternal Love. Please don't be unhappy because I'm out of sight, remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and Night.

The Day I had to leave you when my Life on earth was through God picked me up and hugged me and He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, You were missed while you were gone. As for your Dearest Family they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly as part of my big plan. Theres so much we have to do to help our Moral Man.
Then God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.
I'll be beside you everyday and through out the years, And when your sad. I'm standing there to wipe away your tears.
When You lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight God and I are close you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth and all the loving years, because your only human they are bound to bring you tears.

Please don't be afraid to cry, it does releive the pain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, But if I were to tell you You wouldn't understand. One thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is over I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.

To My many Friends, Trust God knows what is best.I'm still not far away from you I'm just beyond the crest.

So, If you can help somebody who is in sorrow or in pain, then you can say to God at night my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented that with my life. it was worth while,Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
If you meet somebody who is down and feeling low just lend a hand and pick him up as on your way you go.
When Your walking down the street and you've got me on your mind just know Im walking in your footstep only a half a step behind.
And if you feel a gentel breeze or wind upon your face thats me just giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace.
I will always love you from the land way up above We'll be in touch again soon
PS God sends his Love.

I have been an officer for 2 years and two months and 3 days. I know that you went to those in need and you did your best. I can not even express how wonderful a person he must of been. To come to those under fire is one of the bravest things that can be done. This man along with his brothers is a hero, not just to your local community to the nation and the world. He did his job and he did it right, I wish to God none of us had to die to protect those we love and those who need our help in times of distress, but that is what we do. And that is what makes us who we are. i pray your family finds peace in the coming years

“ Policeman’s Prayer”

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with
Both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
Until their story’s told..
Let me never make a judgment
In a rush or callous way,
But let me hold my patience
Let each man have his say

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
Protect my children and my wife.

May God bless your family and watch over your children
