On April 2, 2009, Sgt. Randy White #804 died in the line of duty as he protected the citizens of Bridgeport Texas. Sgt. White served with my department for about two years and I was assigned to be his first field training officer (FTO). During our time together Randy and I shared stories about family, hobbies and other things of interest. Randy soon discovered my fear of grasshoppers and clowns and the pranks never ended. I remember a time when I opened my locker prior to beginning my shift and discovered it had been filled with paper grasshoppers and evil clowns. Randy never confessed or denied being involved, but a close friend (Lori/dispatcher) laughed and said it was Randy all the way. Any officer who worked with Randy could have seen that he was destined to become a great officer. Randy’s passion for serving and protecting seemed like he was born to fight crime. Randy soon expressed interest with the Bridgeport PD and left my department and continued his crime fighting career with Bridgeport PD. On April 2, 2009, Randy died doing what he loved, being a police officer. There are no words that I can describe other than I’m honored to have served with an officer like Randy. Rest easy brother, until we meet again for roll call and walk the beats of heaven together.

My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I too unfortunately have felt the pain of losing a LEO in the line of duty back in December 2005. At times it is not easy but I had to remember I needed to be strong for my two children. I consider myself a survivor. I don't wish this pain on anyone. Everytime a LEO is killed in the line of duty it brings back all the memories. Those of us who have been through it can actually feel your pain because we were there. Remember you never lose memories. Don't ever hesitate to get in contact with me if you need to.

God Bless you and your daughter.

My Dearest Family and Friends

Somethings I'd like to say but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from Heaven where I dwell with Our Lord above. where there's no more tears or sadness just eternal Love. Please don't be unhappy because I'm out of sight, remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and Night.

The Day I had to leave you when my Life on earth was through God picked me up and hugged me and He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, You were missed while you were gone. As for your Dearest Family they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly as part of my big plan. Theres so much we have to do to help our Moral Man.
Then God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.
I'll be beside you everyday and through out the years, And when your sad. I'm standing there to wipe away your tears.
When You lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight God and I are close you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth and all the loving years, because your only human they are bound to bring you tears.

Please don't be afraid to cry, it does releive the pain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, But if I were to tell you You wouldn't understand. One thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is over I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.

To My many Friends, Trust God knows what is best.I'm still not far away from you I'm just beyond the crest.

So, If you can help somebody who is in sorrow or in pain, then you can say to God at night my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented that with my life. it was worth while,Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
If you meet somebody who is down and feeling low just lend a hand and pick him up as on your way you go.
When Your walking down the street and you've got me on your mind just know Im walking in your footstep only a half a step behind.
And if you feel a gentel breeze or wind upon your face thats me just giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace.
I will always love you from the land way up above We'll be in touch again soon
PS God sends his Love.

You are in a better place now and are truely missed by your co-workers and family. We never had the pleasure of meeting as you became a part of the "port" after I left. After attending your service, You were and still are a truely Great Man and Individual. You are greatly missed. Janet held strong during the service and I was amazed by her strength in such a difficult time. The stories told about you were lifting and of how much of an amazing person you were. You are missed by all and I know that your little girl will be looked after well by the Bridgeport Police Department. Carry on your good work as you now walk in greatness above us all. Keep us safe as we keep those safe down here. Rest in peace Brother.

Fallen Heroes
We sense your presence though your voice never breaks the silence of the radio
Nor do we meet for coffee at the 7-11.
We sense your presence, as we search those dark buildings,
And when the lights and sirens pierce the night.
We sense your presence, as we watch the streets, knowing you are watching our backs.
We sense your presence in our Hearts and Minds.
We sense your presence as our Heroes.

Sarge you will be greatly missed. I knew I could count on you to answer the phone at 3 am. It did not matter what what I needed whether it was something in my personal life, of something going on at the PD. I knew you would always answer the phone and talk. We all have a great void in ourlives now that personally I don't know how I am going to fill yet. You wife is a great woman and very strong I might add and believe it or not she has someone who has helped all of us at the Police Department handle what has happened in the last few days. Please know that your wife will be taken care of and she will forever be a part of this Police Department as you would have been too. Rest in peace Brother.

Sergeant White,

I know you were watching down over your funeral service on Tuesday April 07, 2009. I know you felt the sorrow, pain and love which filled the Church by your family, co-workers, Officers from far and near and by friends. It was truly and amazing service for an amazing person such as yourself. It was a true show of the brotherhood which belongs to Law Enforcement Officers everywhere. The funeral procession was outstanding which strecthed for miles. The graveside service was awesome as the bag pipes played, the 21 gun salute, riderless horse and flyover by the helicopters proceeded you to your next shift in heaven. Members of your Department and family showed and shared how much of a provider you were. Their efforts to give you the best service possible was shown and deserved for someone like yourself who gave the best service to your Department and community. I know you now know your badge number 804 was respectfully reassigned to your wife instead of it being retired. This was a great show of support and respect from the Chief of Police and entire Police Department. Wear your new BADGE made of gold and continue to watch over your fellow officers as there new Guardian Angel. Thank you again for giving the ultimate sacrifice with your life. You will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting, knowing and workiing with you. Rest in Peace.

To your wife, daughter and family:
Janet, you showed great strength during the trying times which have been placed on you, your daughter and your family. Many people stated on how strong of a person you are. Carry on your husbands badge number with the Great Pride, Respect and Dignity as he did. May God continue to be with you and your family and know you will be taken care of from here on out. Our continued thoughts and prayers will forever be with Randy, you, your precious daughter and entire family.
