Your sarifice and last full measure of devotion will not be forgotton. RIP Brother

"Never forget what they did here. It is rather for us, the living, to be dedicated here to the great task remaining before us - that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."

The City of Oakland has lost a true hero! How kind of you to think of others and give to others even in death. Numerous people will have a second chance at a normal life because of your organ and tissue donations. God bless you!! Again, giving to the citizens you protected!! A true hero, indeed!!

Your legacy will truly live on!! Keep the troops down here safe and send my love to my beloved CHPs up there who probably welcomed you with open arms and wings.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice, Motorman!! You overcame a lot to become one of Oakland's finest and you achieved that goal nicely!

What a tragic loss for the Oakland Police Department and the families and friends of these four officers!!! What a terrible blow to the Department to lose four dutiful men at one time and at the hands of a cold-blooded murderer! My condolences and prayers go to all of you and to the families and friends of these men. God bless all of you.

This is almost too much sadness to think about at one time. Thinking of these four fallen officers has given me a splitting headache. Though I have never met them, they were my brothers. Their deaths must not be in vain. We must carry the torch onward and never give an inch to the criminals we're dealing with these days. God bless you, Officer Hege and thank you for your service. We have the watch, sir.

How are the mighty fallen
Fallen prey to the brutal street
And the skies wept over those heroes
Where the hills and the flatlands meet

They kept the watch of the city
In service, unabashed
And how we rue the hail that flew
When good and evil clashed

How are the mighty fallen
And the tears of Oakland spilled
For the future that they’ll never know
For their dreams yet unfulfilled

There’s a special place of beauty
Across the horizon’s span
For those slain in the line of duty
Protecting their fellow man

I have mixed emotions, I hate hearing or seeing anything having to do with our fallen man and woman. But I am happy they are proud of what they do for us on a daily basis. I have so much sadness for their families and loved ones. My heart hurts for them. Officer John Hege saved lives on the day he was called up, and is probably still saving lives. He has inspired me to do the same, I didn't even know you could donate your tissue... I have him to thank for being a hero and giving me the knowledge of this small act of heroism that I can do too, So thank you...
