Rest in Peace. I attended your funeral Officer Hege and as your friend (LT) said, "the world came to say Goddbye, John." You were not only loved, but honored and respected. Even in death you still thought of others. You are a hero!

I watched your funeral on television. It was so tremendously sad and your peer and friend who spoke of you did so very tenderly. I feel so terrible this happened to you and I am so sorry.

I have been an officer for 2 years and two months and 3 days. I know that you went to those in need and you did your best. I can not even express how wonderful a person he must of been. To come to those under fire is one of the bravest things that can be done. This man along with his brothers is a hero, not just to your local community to the nation and the world. He did his job and he did it right, I wish to God none of us had to die to protect those we love and those who need our help in times of distress, but that is what we do. And that is what makes us who we are. i pray your family finds peace in the coming years

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents & our comfort is the assurance that He will judge the guilty.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
As we recall in comfort
You await us there.

Four very brave and courageous men who entered the unknown have given their lives for their community. They are true heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. I hope the community will show its outrage, as well as appreciation for the sacrifice Officer Hege and fellow officers made. My deepest sympathies and prayers to the family, friends and brother/sister officers of Officers Dunakin, Romans and Sakai . May the memory of your service, heroism and sacrifice remain forever. May God bless you and your family. AC
