Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Ervin Julius Romans, II

As tears are streaming down from my face, I'm sitting here with a heavy heart, imagining all your flags at half-staff, the flowers flowing in, and families in a state of shock. The entire police department is suffering, and it's a helpless feeling that consumes us. "I am so sorry for your loss" does not even begin to express what I really feel, because I know that this will lead to an endlessly aching heart and days at a cemetary with the sun and trees all around you and no one answering you when you speak to your loved one who lies buried in the Earth. Keep the sound of his laughter in your brain and root for his football team and trust that he is with God. Not just because it sounds nice to believe in, but because the sun keeps setting and rising and flowers continue to flourish, and the rain will still fall.

Sergeant Ervin Romans and Family

Words seem so empty at a time like this. But the actions and love shown by your fellow officers, and those of other departments are a demonstration of the respect all feel about you.
May you rest in peace.

Erv,

I missed being your neighbor as you were a great one who shared a passion and dedication to a job guys like us can only do. I thank you for your support when brother Niemi was taken from us. Now, I find myself writing on YOUR page.....and it pains me so. Thank you for all the help around the house, as I had no idea or the tools to fix anything. I will never forget our BBQ and beers, conversations about this job.

You are a good dude, I looked up to your desire and passion for the job....and have always tried to duplicate it. All the OT and dedication, even though it prevented us from doing that fishing trip we talked about on a weekly basis. Next time I fish, you will be there with me brother......on the bow of my boat.

You will be dearly missed. I pray for your beautiful children, family, and friends who share in my pain. It was a pleasure to have met you and I am thankful to have had the opportunity.

Please know most people are incredibly grateful for the job you do even though we don’t say it often. May your families, find some sort of peace in knowing that you are heroes. A hero is a person who does not put themselves first but rather one who looks to protect others and that is exactly what you all have done. I am profoundly sorry for your loss. You will never be forgotten, rest in peace, you certainly deserve it.

In our prayers forever.

An eternally grateful citizen

"Final Call"

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

May God be with you during this difficult time my prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.
